Sven's Truck Shop [working title]

Hello together!

I've opened this topic because I want to present you my little project called "Sven's Truck Shop". Well, currently it's just a working title but maybe I will keep the name - we'll see. Anyhow this name should tell you three things about my project:

1. My first name is Sven - nice to meet you
2. It's about trucks!
3. It's some kind of a self-service shop but without money!

The idea behind is really simple: I really like all those truck and trailer models out there and enjoyed building all of them. But at some point I wanted to mix those models, for example I wanted the ZMK DAF body on the 8x8 bucobox MB chassis. To do so I need to open the respective files in an editor and cut out all the parts I need, maybe make some smaller additions or changes and put all together into one new document. Yeah this is the classic kind of remixing but to be honest the process itself isn't really comfortable or straight forward. Especially because you need to imagine the model and think of which parts you need or not need.

So I thought about the hole process and tried to find ways to enhance it and make it more comfortable. The obvious solution for this was to simply separate all the models into single assemblies like truck wheels, truck chassis, truck bodies, truck extra parts, trailer bodies, trailer chassis and so on and on. With this simple assemblies I would be able start putting together complete models like having a big box of "Lego"-bricks or a trucks and trailers sandbox-like construction kit. To be honest the perspective of having such a sandbox awakes childish happiness for me!

With this idea in mind I started creating the first assemblies, added my own parts or changed available ones. You can see previews of what I already got below.



I used templates from Ridermann and MBActros (Lubo) for these. The parts from Ridermann's models were just copy and paste (until now). The parts from MBActros's models were recreated from the bitmaps using Inkscape. Maybe this is the time where I need to make something clear: I don't want to just copy and paste models, at least not without permission. So I will definitely not publish any models without granted permission from the original authors! Especially because I want to publish my sandbox models the open source way "free like free beer!" - therefore I will of course redo or repaint or re-develop all parts by myself if necessary.
As a sidenote I want all original authors to understand this as an open request for granting permission to use parts of their models in sandbox models. So if you are an original author and you are interested in this sandbox idea please comment here or write me a private message.

Well, now I'm uncertain what to add at this point but am really curious about what you think of this idea of a sandbox for trucks and trailer papermodels! Maybe you have additional ideas or wishes or maybe want to contribute!?

Oh was Deutsche Firmen angeht habe ich eine gaaaaaanze Menge Ideen. Ich würde sie zwar auch mit dem Truck Shop versuchen umzusetzen aber hier mal eine Reihe von Vorschlägen für Dich und alle anderen, die Interesse haben!
